Beanie joined us on July 29, 2004. We met her at the Moore County Animal Center in Carthage. She was about 6 months old, mis-tagged as a “Jack Russell Mix,” and had a bad leg wound. We got permission to take her to the Carthage Animal Hospital for a checkup – turned out to be a treatable bad infection.  We returned to the Recue to make a donation, but Beanie came home with us – It was mutual Love at first sight!
We “saved” Beanie that day, but she repaid us a thousand-fold over the next 16 years. She added an enjoyable dimension to our lives that many never get to experience. We gave – and she gave back so much more!!
On June 25,  2020, she somehow had a burst of energy after falling and injuring her hip two weeks before. She was deaf, lame and a little shaky, but it  didn’t seem to matter to her. We played, laughed and loved one more time.
Beanie left us with dignity, in a peaceful sleep, getting pets and love from us on June 26, 2020 to join her brothers and sisters and cousins, Buttons, Pokey, Sargeant, Prince, Beebop, Tuffy, MiMi, Skitty, Bagle, Goliath, Badger, Lizzie, and her best “buds:”  Pete, Floyd, Charly, Sam and Bunker. Beanie is in Fire Hydrant and Cookie heaven making those around her happy!
Cookies were her favorite thing in the world!!!!

Sandi took this picture of her the night before on June 25th, and sent this message:
I took this photo last night as we were going to bed.  Our 16 year old sweet Beanie had a great day and was playing like a puppy!  As all old dogs, she had some issues, but life was good and we were all enjoying our time together. We are so grateful not only for the many years of love and laughter together, but that today she was able to depart our lives gracefully and without pain.
She didn’t have a mean bone in her body and she had a heart of gold.  We thank her for all the memories and we will miss her every day.

God Bless her and all the pets we love so dearly.

Rest In Peace, sweet Beanie.

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine. Our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….
